Weekend

The weekend flew by.  Seriously, I could not believe it was Monday already when the alarm went off today. We were super busy all weekend long.  Friday afternoon I ran errands, ran by Anthropologie on my quest for white jeans and bought a pair of jeans there that were just okay and I felt were overpriced.  Hubby and I then met and did a casual dinner at Cafe Madrid for some tapas and sangria and then went back to the house to pick up in preparation for his mom arriving the next day and to start laundry.

Off for dinner on Friday Night

Finally got a haircut on Saturday morning that was long overdue and then I headed to the mall for some retail therapy.  Steve's mom came into town Saturday afternoon and he picked her up at the airport while I was at the mall.  Mostly I was looking for some inexpensive, casual tops for our upcoming Spain trip and was still looking for another pair of white jeans that I would like more than the ones I bought at Anthropologie. Success!!  I ended up finding a pair of white skinny jeans at J. Crew that were winners and were waaaaay less expensive so I took back the Anthropologie jeans. Love it when that happens.  I also went a little crazy and bought a pair of leather shorts by Rag & Bone at Intermix. Here they are:

Rag & Bone Shorts
I have seen these on some of the fashion blogs and think they look cute but I also can't help but think I am a complete moron for buying leather shorts in Texas...in the summer.  However, these babies were originally $450 and I got them on sale for $100.   They look super cute on but I probably won't be wearing them for a few months until it cools down...it's already 100 degrees in Texas!

We took Steve's mom out for dinner on Saturday and the next day she and I went for pedicures at the local spa.  I decided to go with a bright red on my toes for the upcoming Spain trip.  Gotta coordinate!

Sunday night we went to a local restaurant called Stampede 66, which is a very "Texas" theme restaurant in downtown Dallas.  Steve and I have been before and loved it but this time it wasn't as good.  They had a pre-set "Sunday supper" menu only and it wasn't really my cup of tea.  It sounded great -- 3 courses, starting with a a strawberry, goat cheese and field green salad, then samples of three entrees which were BBQ brisket, fried catfish and honey injected fried chicken and then a small dessert of peach shortcake.  I am actually not a big fan or fried chicken and one bite told me this one wasn't worth the calories or the guilt.  The catfish was waaay too salty and the peach shortcake was subpar - the shortcake itself was hard as a rock and flavorless.  Anyway, we were disappointed especially since we had raved about the place and hyped it up.  Oh well, you win some and lose some, I guess.

Sunday Supper wasn't great but the restaurant is gorgeous

At any rate, the weekend came to a close much to quickly.  Now I am back to the grindstone and my regular workout routine.  Ugh.  Next weekend will be another busy one.  We have to attend my company's opening ceremony for a new plant in Denton on Saturday and on Sunday we have Sunday brunch with some friends and then I am getting a facial at the Bliss Spa.  It's our neighbor's birthday on Sunday but I may have to take a pass on attending it as I will also need to do laundry and start packing for our Europe trip.  Not enough hours in the day!
