Video of our train ride to Pamplona - the singing you hear are the drunk guys in the next car. They were getting the party started for the San Fermin festival. |
I'll be posting a lot more photos of Spain later in the next week or two. Below are a few that I took on my Iphone so the quality isn't great. It was a fantastic trip and we had some amazing experiences but I am glad to be home again. Our itinerary was as follows:
Wednesday - depart that evening and arrive Thursday morning in Madrid
Thursday - Madrid (jet lag day)
Friday - Madrid (museum day and lunch at El Botin, the world's oldest restaurant)
Saturday - Day trip to the medieval city of Toledo
Sunday - Train to Pamplona
Monday - Pamplona (rented a balcony to watch the Running of the Bulls and attended the bullfight)
Tuesday - Pamplona
Wednesday - Train to beach side town of San Sebastian
Thursday - San Sebastian
Friday - Looooooong train ride back to Madrid
Saturday - Fly home
I adore Spain but I will say that I will not be in the mood to eat any cured ham for a really long time. I got "OH'd" while there ("over hammed"). Also, the Running of the Bulls was a great experience but it is definitely a check the box item on my bucket list and I probably won't be repeating it. Worth doing but only once for me. The city of Pamplona is lovely but it becomes a sordid, seedy, filthy and very drunk town during the week of the San Fermin festival. It was a bit overwhelming, even for me. Here are a few photos until I get the ones from my fancy camera uploaded and sorted:

Drunk guy in Pamplona. It was like this everywhere. You were literally stepping over passed out people all over the city! |
My favorite stop in Spain on this trip - San Sebastian. Gorgeous!! |
