The Big Apple - Part 2 - Shop to you Drop

Shopping in New York City should be considered a sport.  We did some shopping on 5th Avenue in mid-town but most of the stores there are what you can find anywhere.  Don't get me wrong, the J. Crew, B. Republic and Ann Taylor on 5th Avenue are probably 3 or 4 times the size of the one at your local mall but it's still the same stuff and isn't really unique or unusual.

My favorite shopping destination in NYC is the cast iron historic district in Soho.  It has great advantages over 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue shopping.  It's not nearly as crowded for one thing so you are jostled about far less.  The stores are individual boutiques and it's much easier to get more variety and find unique pieces.  There are also plenty of cute, small restaurants and coffee shops where you can have a nice, light lunch or take a break to rest your feet.

Also, if you have a husband in tow, most of the boutiques have a nice couch for him to sit on and the staff will offer him something to drink, even a glass of wine, scotch or bourbon at most stores.  Also, there are a few men's boutiques in Soho (Jack Spade, J. Crew Men's store, Barbour, etc..) so he can find a little something too.

Below are a few items I picked up last weekend from shopping in Soho.

Medallion Blouse from Joie Boutique - Soho.
Really cute with skinny jeans and ballet flats.

Lunch at Bistro Des Amis in Soho - Highly recommend!

Blouse from Alice & Olivia Boutique - Soho

Infinity wrap cardigan from Alice & Olivia Boutique - can't wait for cooler weather so I can wear this!
So soft!!

Kate Spade Jewelry - the pink studs will go perfectly with my the new pink
blouse from A&O

If you get to NYC, I say skip 5th Avenue and head to Soho!
